Privacy Policy for job-alerts-reader

Effective October 30, 2026

job-alerts-reader is part of Job Listing Filter, a personal project by Jester-Head that checks job listings for signs of resume harvesting and ghost jobs. It is used only by its developer, on one Gmail account set up to receive job alerts.

What the app accesses

The app uses Google’s read-only Gmail permission. It reads only the emails in one label that holds job alert emails from job boards. It does not read any other mail, and it cannot send, change, or delete email.

How the data is used

From each job alert email, the app pulls out the job title, company, location, and link. These are used to check whether the job is posted on the company’s own job board and how long it has been listed.

Storage

Copies of the job alert emails and the details pulled from them are stored in private cloud storage that only the developer can access. They are kept until the developer deletes them.

Sharing

Data from Gmail is not sold, shared with anyone else, or used for advertising. It is not used to train generalized AI or machine learning models.

Google API Services User Data Policy

job-alerts-reader’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing access

Access can be removed at any time in your Google Account, under Security, in the list of third-party apps and services with account access. To ask for stored data to be deleted, open an issue at github.com/Jester-Head/legitlisting/issues.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
